Atentamente.

To Ada and all of Johnathan’s friends and family - Having gotten to know Johnathan through TEAK was such a privilege. We worked closely during his freshman year at TBLS and I always looked forward to his good nature, openness and continued love of learning that he shared as he navigated his freshman year of high school. The TEAK community opens its arms to Ada and all who knew Johnathan. We were lucky to know him. He will always be a part of our community, and we will always remember his positivity, warmth, and wit. With love, Nina Glickman and the TEAK Fellowship

I had the honor and joy of working with Johnathan and Ada and always will remember Johnathan's kindness, humor, earnestness and spark. I'll never forget during one summer, he got up on stage and had the crowd cheering as he delivered this amazing intro rap: "They call me....Johnny E. Just like...an emcee." He was also an incredibly talented actor who delivered a Shakespeare monologue that brought the house down. Johnathan showed up, supported others, and made each room brighter because he was in it. Ada is an incredible woman and mother and he was such a testament to her beautiful, maternal spirit. Lighting a candle for all the joy Johnathan brought to this world. Love always, Sarah Demers

My condolences to you and your family Ada. May God give you the strength to cope during this difficult time. I will never forgot Johnathan from a part of the my life when I was just starting my teaching career. He made such an impact in my classroom during circle time, and playtime with his witty responses and cheerful smile. He made me see how each child is unique in their own special way, that is powerful! Every teacher needs to learn that. I can still remember it as it was yesterday. Our short conversations at the classroom door about Johnathan. It was ever so meaningful, impactful to know a Mom that loves and supports her son so much. Many times we’d laugh and it was great to have a positive interaction with you. You and your family have done such a awesome job raising him. It really takes a village to raise a child and I can tell how much you, your sister, and his Dad were all there for him! Throughout the years it put a smile on my face to hear about all his accomplishments, and so proud to say I had an experience once with him. Even though it is tough raising a teenager, you did it and should be so proud! God called his angel, and I know he is looking down at us all. Until we meet again!

To the family of Johnathan Espada,
The level of happiness that Johnathan bought into my life is almost in comprehensible, and the pain of his death almost equally so. Even then I can't imagine what you're going through, but know that my heart as well as those of the dedicated Discipulī and Magistrī of TBLS are with you. Johnathan was a treasure, and I aspire to be like him in how much happiness and support he exuded to those around him. We might not know each other personally, but I am there if you need me.
My most sincere condolences,

To the family of Johnathan, I’m sure I couldn’t possibly iterate the right words but I can say that Johnathan was just.. such a great guy and he lost his light far far too early. I would say he was a good friend of mine. In Classical Literature we’d always talk; me, him and the other guys at the table. It was great. That class itself was kind of dull but Johnathan was the reason I could always look forward to it. He was kind and so understanding. He was a great jokester too. No could ever rock the calls of Iago like he did. His flare and aura gave light to the classes he was in. He never once tried to hurt someone purposefully and respected everyone. To see such a distasteful thing like this to happen to him. It boggles my mind. Everyone misses you Johnathan, we won’t ever forget your presence. Thank you to everyone who has commemorated his memory. Our thoughts and prayers go to the Espada family.

To Johnathan's family,
I genuinely cannot understand what you guys must be going through. Johnathan was an amazing person who was a very dedicated member of my volleyball team as well as a talented classmate of mine in freshman year. Not only was he a classmate of mine, he was also a great friend. It's upsetting to see him pass away at such a young age. I keep up reloading our Snapchat messages and checking his location every 5 minutes just to comfort myself that I at least have a part of him here. Again, I truly do not understand what you guys as a family must be going through, but know that the TBLS community truly misses Johnathon <3

Johnathan’s family,
It hurts me to have to write something like this for one of my peers. Johnathan and I became friends quickly during our school’s pbc trip. We were always laughing together and making jokes. We eventually fell out of touch, which I regret very much so. I’m so sorry that this had to happen to such a wonderful and happy person at such a young age. Though we had not been close ever since the beginning of our freshman year, his jokes and his presence were always so normal for me. Today I had seen that his chair was no longer and the table he sat at in our first period class, and though he might be gone, he will never be forgotten in our hearts. I cannot imagine what you are going through right now and I cannot say that the grief we feel here at TBLS is the same as the one as you all feel. But just know that we are doing everything we can to remember him, celebrate him, and appreciate the impact that he had left on our school. Please stay strong and remember that you have a whole school here for you.
